Blizzard have to do something about this problem, its really annoying siting for 1 hour at the character creation screen trying to find a name that is not already taken.. And the most frustrating part is, the names are taken from toons that are below lvl 10..
Inactive chars that are below lvl 10 should have expiration time! That will solve this problem. If you want to keep that char from expiring then let him keep few gold in his pockets, thats how you can keep your bank alt or a name that you want to keep for future alt..
There are a number of various checks that are in place as it states in the article Marcuss linked Randomhealer and it's not something we are able to go into detail about on the forums I am afraid. Suffice to say that like it says in the article, players wishing to have a name freed up are not always successful.
As for the second part of your question, if you were to come back and find that your name had been taken, this is something you would need to contact us in-game about and we would look into it. Again there's no guarantee that you may get it back, but it all depends on the circumstances of the situation. |
