Usually laptops have a discrete video card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M in this case) and an onboard video chip (typically Intel). I suggest setting your Nvidia card as the preferred graphics processor for World of Warcraft. To do that, open up the Nvidia control panel (right-click on your desktop and select the Nvidia Control Panel) and go to 'Manage 3D Setting'. In the settings window select the 'Program Settings' tab and select World of Warcraft from the dropdown menu (you may have to add it if you don't see the game on the list). Once you have World of Warcraft selected, look for 'CUDA - GPUs' and click where it says 'Use Global Settings'. From there, click the 'Use these GPUs' option and check the box next to the video card.

Interesting, if minor development: the stickied thread on this mess, which had been locked, is now unlocked again.

To put minds at ease - the thread was locked temporarily to clean up some of the more...unsavory comments that were appearing. We want everyone to feel welcome posting on our forums, but once language turns harsh, that feeling of inclusion or even desire to post can be squelched. I'll say the same here as I did in the stickied thread. Be nice, watch the language, and let's stay on topic.
I appreciate everyone who has provided assistance in this thread with suggestions and investigations to help the overall issue with one of everyone's favorite WoW sites. Thanks for making the community better and helping, something we love to see!

What I don't like seeing, and dislike taking time from helping players with technical issues to handle, is mean or nasty posts about other players. Regardless of the circumstances involved, we can all act like a community, be mature, and in the spirit of the holidays, be thankful we have each other to rely on while playing World of Warcraft.

I've moderated posts in this thread that have gone against our forum rules and wish to remind everyone a final time: be nice, watch the language, and let's stay on topic.
To further this in a more technical aspect (my area of expertise - I'm one of the Technical Support Forum Agents), I'd highly recommend against leaving multiple pages of WoWHead open at this time while playing WoW. Increased latency could result, DEcreased frames per second (a tad uncommon but still possible), and even disconnections could occur if the router or modem is unable to handle the flow of data streaming back and forth.

*edit: I should post less often after eating Thanksgiving leftovers! Note: you CAN NOT improve your frames per second by opening up multiple pages of any site. No matter what silly Blue posters like me indicate.*
I certainly understand concerns about the in-game Help section containing links to WoWHead. When you click on those, they do state it will open a new browser window - WoWHead itself is not loading up using in-game assets or code. I'd also like to take this time to encourage account security overall - Kodiack has an excellent post on this:

To clarify a few things...

Blizzard does not own nor operate Wowhead. Blizzard is not serving malicious advertisements. ZAM is the company that maintains Wowhead.

To my knowledge, accounts rarely get compromised because of malware. Most accounts are compromised by players clicking links in phishing emails then attempting to log into fake sites.

Battle.net accounts that are linked to Wowhead/ZAM should not ever be at increased risk. Account linking does not share login credentials with third-party sites.

Authenticators continue to be the best way to protect your account. Download the Battle.net authenticator app for your phone or grab a physical authenticator if you're concerned about being compromised.
Stickied thread temporarily while WoWHead is investigating this issue. We appreciate our players calling out things like this - we are a community of gamers after all, so thank you for looking out for all players! :)

Just a reminder to please observe the forum rules, watch the language used and all that.
Extend Q&A sticky, please!” wysłany:
Done, thanks for bringing it to our attention Mossclaw!
Hey guys, I saw someone's plea to extend the post length here, so I've done so. Have at it and get your questions in! Twelve more days til Blizzcon!
