The community....sigh

blizz -> wysłany:
It saddens me to read the forums and see how others treat people who think differently than they do.

Then…it occurred to me. Many people have been playing this game for a longer period of time than they have actually spent in their real life, in a functioning relationship.

In a functioning relationship you learn to communicate or you no longer have a relationship. The entire meaning of relationship centers around two or more people relating. When you have a significant other you don’t lash out at them for disagreeing with you, you don’t belittle that person into making them feel inferior. Yet on the forums, that’s all many of you do.

If you had been dating somebody for 7 years and they left you, you’d be hurt. Yet some people are not allowed to grieve when they realize that this game, and all of the time spent playing it, is about to be over.

Whether or not some of you realize it, you are part of this relationship. Time to grow up and stop treating others so poorly. We spend the rest of our lives having high school reunions which have lasted almost 50% of the time as my time is in this game. If you are going to be part of the community, it’s time to push for some standards amongst ourselves.

First: Report harassing behavior. Do not tolerate others abusing others in game or in the forums.
Second: Bury the posts here that are not constructive. Do not reply, bury.
Third: Teach those who are willing to learn, but don’t teach those who aren’t willing to help themselves.
Fourth: Realize that for some people…..this is the height of their social ladder they will ever climb. Respond accordingly.
Fifth: Because so many people haven’t been in a meaningful relationship and have been given ribbons for finishing last, they have no idea that with responsibility comes accountability. Unless we the community start to hold people accountable, get them banned, make them feel accountable, they will never stop.

The last rule feels a bit too much like negative stereotyping, but in general I agree with what you're saying and am happy it's being said, Sweetpeaz.

I've had enough heat thrown my way in the last week or so on the forums and on Twitter to know there's really nothing that funny about peace, love, and understanding. ;)
