The messaging is for the retail client, there is no repair utility for the PTR. If you have an issue with it not running, reinstalling is really about all we can suggest in here. For me, it was the little gaps in the textures down on the ground below in front of his mounted char. That's a sign the OP had a 16 bit setting for the color bits or depth. Sounds like a known issue with the launcher mis-reporting a download in progress. Then exit or alt-tab out and look at the monitor program. That's just a folder on the original cds, it doesn't mean it's seeing it as a Mac disc. If you look at each cd, one will have an installer.exe file on it. That's the one you'd start with. Since you're posting from a level 85 character, I'll assume you already have Cataclysm, and if so, you should use that dvd instead of the old original ones. No, it does not store an encrypted value for the authenticator key. A registry entry is there though to hold the game's installed folder. Please open up Internet Explorer even if it's not the main browser you use, click on "Tools" then "Internet Options". Now go to the "Connections" tab and click on the button that says "LAN settings". Make sure that "Automatically detect settings" is checked, and that you are not using a proxy server and then click "OK." The file you edit is your config.wtf file. We routinely have people make changes to that file while troubleshooting. It isn't a game file, it's just a text file holding settings. Contact a GM and request your character be moved. Use the word "STUCK" in your ticket description along with the character info/location. You can reach them by following the steps below: - Start the game and log into the affected character. If you cannot log into your character, try creating a new character (preferably on the same realm) and log into that one instead. - In the game, click the red question mark (?) icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Help menu. - With the Help menu open, you can select one of several options at the bottom of the Help menu: "Talk to a GM," "Report Issue," and select the option that best applies to your issue. - Select the "Open a Ticket" option. - Enter as much information as possible about the problem, and then click the "Submit" key to submit the ticket. Once you have submitted the information, you will see a notification appear in the top right section of your screen that you have an open ticket. A GM will be in contact with you as soon as they are able, to help you resolve the issue. That's overheating severely. I'd suggest you unplug the computer, open it up, and using a can of compressed air, clean out the video card's fan and heatsink assembly. One thing that can cause this sort of thing is an overlay program called Gamer OSD made by Asus. If you have this installed, it needs to be uninstalled.

Let's get the game back to the default settings. You can do that temporarily and not lose any customization you've done. With the game closed please rename your WTF folder to WTF.bak and INTERFACE folder to INTERFACE.bak. Delete the Cache folder entirely. These hold setting info and temporary cache files that will be recreated by the game the next time you launch. Renaming them allows you to rename them back later if this step doesn't resolve anything. NOTE: Please also make sure to remove any and all addon auto-installers or auto-updaters you may have, as those can automatically reinstall addons for you, possibly causing further issues. Now start the game up again, agree to the TOU and set your resolution. See if the issue is still there. If it is, none of this helped and you can put it back like it was by exiting, deleting the newly created WTF and Interface folders, and renaming the .bak ones back to their original names. But if the issue is fixed, it means it was a setting or addon most likely. It may also be an issue with overheating.
