Lissanna

Hi druid forums! I started posting here in Vanilla and I wanted to let you all know that I'm soon stepping down from the MVP program and closing Restokin.

Over the last few months, I have been working on a career change and am leaving academia. In early December, I start a new industry job. This relocation and career change has caused me to need to leave the Blizzard MVP program and close Restokin. That’s right, I won’t be working on supporting the community as you launch into Battle for Azeroth testing. Next week, movers will come and pick up all my belongings and I start a week long road trip to my new home and career. I will still play WOW and other video games, but I need to have a less active role in the community so that I can focus on my new career.

More details here:

I wish everyone the best in Battle for Azeroth. Maybe I'll see you in-game sometime!
Are all MMORPG's like this?” wysłany:
Sometimes, leveling can be a lot of fun. I have a handful of lower level characters that haven't made it to end-game at all, just because I like exploring the lower level zones.

They put a lot of effort in the Cataclysm expansion to make leveling much more fun from 1 to 60. I think that effort put into improving the quality of life for low level players is important to recognize.

They even gave new abilities to some classes at lower levels to make their gameplay more interesting from level 1 on. Druids used to have to go 20 levels before they could be a cat to do melee damage. Now, druids only have to be level 8. If they didn't care about low level play, they wouldn't have made those kinds of changes for Cataclysm.

I know plenty of people who enjoy leveling much more than playing "end-game" stuff.

Mists of Pandaria also will add in more things that people of all levels can do (for example, the pet battle system was announced at Blizzcon as a feature that would be accessible to all players).

In the end, what is important is that Blizzard really does want WoW to have stuff that will appeal to various different people. It's not just about hitting max-level and starting to do raiding stuff. Some people never do end-game content. They just have an army of many alts. :)

You pointed out the reason in the rest of your post. Technically, it's the same issue as the example I covered with hunters rolling on a two-handed Strength weapons. Spirit is a DPS stat for some classes which, therefore, means items with Spirit are flagged for healing and DPS. This is exactly what I mean by the system needing to be more intelligent.

Can we please get a direct response as to why Hunters and Druids can roll need on Strength items at all?

Can we please get a direct response as to why Death Knights, Paladins, and Warriors can roll need on Agility items at all?

I know there are a ton of special cases, but I keep harping on the Strength/Agility thing because there is absolutely zero gear or spec overlap between those classes.

Plate DPS/Tanks NEVER want Agility, Hunters/Druids NEVER want Strength. Why does need even light up for those classes, regardless of their role? I'm not even asking why they get Need+, I'm asking why can they even push "Need"?

Warriors can't roll need on Int/Spirit plate or caster weapons. Why does this not extend to Str/Agi items and classes?

At this point, I'm pretty sure that their system just doesn't differentiate between AGI melee DPS versus STR melee DPS. The system isn't smart enough yet.
