In seriousness though, I feel that if a thread starts off with a well constructed post, that isn't being passive-aggressive or outright inflammatory, then the discussion will often be productive.

Of course, people may disagree with the content of the opening post, but expressing disagreement isn't inherently a form of attack or abuse (again; if expressed in an appropriate manner).

This doesn't mean I'm giving carte blanche to some of the types of reactions and disagreements we see on the forums, I definitely feel that re-reading a post a few times before actually hitting submit can have a lot of benefits. But when it's something a person feels passionate about, it's innevitable that some form of emotion might come through in the way they express themselves.
