Every week, keen anglers from each corner of Azeroth head to Stranglethorn Vale to participate in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, a grand fishing tournament that awards highly coveted prizes!
Fishing is one of the four secondary professions available to all characters in World of Warcraft. Improving your fishing skill gives you the opportunity to capture fish and other creatures which lurk in the waterways of Azeroth and Outland. By doing so, you can supply the raw ingredients for many cooking recipes, gather delicious food for hunter pets, sell your surplus to other players, complete special quests and even take part in a very special weekly event!

Competition is fierce at the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza! There can be only three winners each Sunday on each realm, but there are rewards for everyone who participates. Not only that, but there is also a chance to catch rare fish during the event which Fishbot 5000 in Booty Bay will take in exchange for even more unique loot.
Activities
Catch Speckled Tastyfish
Speckled Tastyfish can be caught from any fishing pool around Northern Stranglethorn and the Cape of Stranglethorn while the tournament is running. The first three players who return to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay with 40 Speckled Tastyfish will be the winners for the week.
Become a renowned fishmaster!
There are unique prizes if you’re quick enough to come first, second or third in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza – not only that, but the first three each Sunday will also earn the Master Angler of Azeroth achievement.
Gold awaits you in the deeps
If you’re not one of the three winners, you can still sell your Tastyfish to Jang for gold, and if you are lucky enough to find one of the rare fish that can be caught only during the Extravaganza, you can trade them to Fishbot 5000 for winner-worthy prizes!
Finishing first or second in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza can reward you with a great heirloom item. Heirloom Items are Bind on Account, meaning that they can be shared with any of your characters on the same realm. You can send them between your characters via in-game mail even if the recipient is a member of the opposing faction (as long as you don’t add anything else in the parcel).
Fishing is not just about skill – a great deal of luck is needed to succeed. This hat will protect you from the scorching sun… and from the jealous looks of other anglers.
The original Nat Pagle’s boots! Well, a perfect copy of the original boots that helped Nat Pagle become the legend he is today.
ACHIEVEMENTS
If you finish in first, second or third place in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, you’ll earn the achievement Master Angler of Azeroth, worth 10 achievement points. This achievement also counts towards the meta-achievement Accomplished Angler.
TITLE
There is no specific title reward for placing in the top three in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, but as it counts towards the meta-achievement Accomplished Angler, the title “Salty” is at stake here!
