How can I practice for Arena?

blizz -> wysłany:
I think Arena is by far the most fun in this game. Me and my friends are playing 2v2/3v3 and all of us wants to get better. In order to achieve higher rating I have get myself an account at skill-capped that is allowing me to watch hundreds of videos on how to improve your game. This has helped me alot.

But the problem is I want more, I want to get better. Me and my friends can only play a few games per week (except for the weekends). My question is how I can improve my game in Arena on my own? Even though you need lots of knowledge you also need to get practice, you cant be the best with just a !@#$loads of knowledge if you dont know how to apply it in the reality. And since me and my team cant play so much I wanna know how I can get better in Arena on my own. Suggestions? Playing alot of BG's isnt really helping since its not the same thing. Perhaps play alot of duels and practice on CC much? Im a resto druid btw, if it matters

Hi Svartvit,
It’s like you said, there’s no better way than to practice. If I were you I would ask my friends in 2v2 and 3v3 if they wouldn’t mind me switching teams every now and then, this way you can still play with your friends when they are online, and when they aren’t you can leave the team and join somebody else’s team that is online at that moment and keep practising.

I’m only saying this assuming that if you’re not at a very high rating at this moment then you don’t have much to lose, and if you need to improve your skills to get higher rating, you won’t be able to do so until you practice enough, so in the end, switching teams might mean you’ll get higher rating a lot faster than if you just stay put in your current ones.
If for any reason you can’t really find someone online and steady willing to let you come in and out of a team, then you can always play with random players that always want to fill their weekly cap. This way, not only you get to practice and have some fun with some possibly crazy new comps but you’ll also be making some random players happy and maybe some new friends ;)

I must say that depending on how high your current skill level is, you might not get much from playing at the usual low rating weekly random conquest point fillers play at, but occasionally you might meet some that are quite skilled and are just currently not playing very seriously in any bracket, it actually happens quite often, you might also learn some new tricks that other players might teach you, and vice versa.

I must say I’ve done and still do this from time to time and I really enjoy it, especially when you see that the other player was just there for the conquest points but suddenly he wants to play more with you because he’s having fun. Some players just aren’t that much into arena cause they haven’t found the right partner or they lack the incentive to get better at it. It’s really fun and pleasant to see some people change their minds about PvP just after a few games.

Hope you have a nice weekend filled with lots of PvP (and your enemy’s tears eheheh)! Cheers!

Instead of changing team constantly, how about you bring back Skirmish arenas? It was a really good way to practice for arena without being afraid of losing rating (War Games wont be the quite same, as you have to find an enemy team, which most likely is godly (newer/lower geared arena players wont likely go against))

The problem is that it wasn't a very popular feature. We would have kept them if it had been relatively easy to do so when Cataclysm launched. The issue really comes down to how few players actually used it.

But don't think we don't hear you, we do, and on a more personal level, I too miss skirmishes now that they're gone, but when I actually think about it, I barely ever used them when we had them. I think what actually bothers me the most is knowing it's not there if I ever want to use it, more than actually wanting to use it. Humans...go figure!
Devs have already said they might bring them back if there's enough demand for it someday, but it's not at the top of our priorities at the moment, still, there is hope!
