Can I just ask if Blizzard (provided they're still reading this thread) thinks that everyone belongs in hard modes? Or that anyone who wants to do it should able to do it? Is it something like a right to content?
I don't raid so I don't have a dog in the fight, but if I did raid I would want to do so to the level I was able. My understanding was that hard modes are for those who were serious raiders and sought a challenge while normal modes were for the more casual raider and LFR was for those who don't generally raid or alts of those who do.
I don't know how to put this so it won't be taken as offensive to a lot of folks so I'm just going to say it. Hard Modes are supposed to be the hardest content in the game. They're supposed to challenge serious raiders. But we've come to believe that hard modes are the standard by which raiding is measured. If you're not in hard modes you don't really raid kind of feeling.
I play tennis and I enter some tournaments but there are other tournaments that I don't enter because my skill level isn't high enough to be competitive. I don't decry the fact that I'm not allowed to play Wimbledon or the US Open and expect them to change the rules for me to do so. I don't even compete for the city title because that's above my level. I don't see a great difference here.
Why can't there be something in the game that is very hard and only intended for the best of the best? With LFR more people than ever are seeing raid content, right? Do they have to see all levels of raid content? That doesn't make sense to me. Yes, there are relatively few who want such a challenge but there are some and it doesn't seem like a great idea to tell them they only get content they like for a few weeks.

If they don't have to be like us, why do they have to have nerfs to get to our position in HM Raiding?
I don't know, man. How is it good for the game to have 1% of players parading around for months and months and a 99% sitting around with nothing to do because they're sick and tired of wiping?
Your solution is "Well then they should get better or quit." and that's just not reasonable for a video game comprised of millions of people looking to just have some fun. It's still a computer game.
People have their fun in multiple ways. Some level alts, some PvP, some enjoy questing, and some raid to various levels (LFR, casual, progression-based, & hardcore to name the most popular catagories).
You're taking one aspect and making it so everyone can what.... have heroic gear? You know the saying "A million dollars isn't worth a whole lot if everyone has it." That's what separates those who succeed and those who don't in this game; rewards to reflect hard work and dedication.
Don't fix what isn't broken. Raiding is supposed to be more difficult as a player progresses from LFR -> Normal -> Heroic. Obviously, Heroics can be completed; many guilds have done it.. Granted, while it may be > 1% of the total population, that is perfectly fine. Raiding and it's competitiveness looses all merit if you buff or nerf content so that the vast majority of the population can obtain it with minimal to no effort. There has to be that separation just as with the original quoted relation to Tennis. Without the separation there is no competitiveness: no reason to push your limits: no reason to even try and improve. You want the best in the game / life / sport, etc... then work for it. Obstacles will be there and you either get over them or don't. It takes the motivation and dedication of the individual and team to succeed. It doesn't take someone else to make their challenges easier by giving them handouts (such as a progressive 5% buff).
And for all those who flame "Just turn the buff off" there is no merit to that, either. It goes back to trying to fix what isn't broken. Don't place something there that isn't needed.
