EDIT: For Everyone saying "Night elf's have better stealth so shut up" Please allow me to post this "better stealth" word for word from the game.
Elusiveness: Reduces the chance enemies have of detecting you while Shadowmelded and increases the speed while stealthed by 5%. To break this down real quick for those of you that are OBVIOUSLY not reading the ability. The stealth boost is put to SHADOWMELD which you can NOT, and i repeat CAN NOT move. Meaning this plays not a single factor into druid or rogue stealth. The only stealth increase from this is SPEED. Not actual stealth level via prowl or stealth, but merely shadowmeld. Another thing is simply this. I have conceeded that Druids don't have better stealth, but i have left it in the OP so as not to remove any previous postings. I have however, found a suggestion by Vyde, if you go all the way to the bottom of my OP that makes a lot of sense as to way a Druid might seem to have better stealth. Original Post: Ferals are a problem in PvP against Rogues, a major one. (Yes i realize there are counters, but hunters are already a very hard counter to rogues, we don't need two) Why is this? Well, for quite a few reasons. The massive amount of damage is just plain silly, they can pounce on a Rogue, while both are stealthed. (Bear in mind this is another problem to be discussed Druid stealth>Rogue stealth.. wut?) Bleed me up, then run away laughin as i'm rooted. I CoS of course, go to pop vanish, take 2steps... and oops, i'm out of stealth because i had bleeds.. well ok, let's try this again.. but WAIT i have been pounced from stealth again, bleed up, rooted, and the druid runs away laughin.. yet again. Now consider i actually DO bring the druid down.. they pop what i like to call "lulbearformusuck" or as it's actually called. Bear form. I call it lulbearformusuck because the moment they pop bear form as a rogue, or any pure melee class, you might as well just give it up there, the amount of damage reduction WHILE still being ablt to put out a metric ton of damage is severely wrong. You can disarm a druid, but does this really affect their weapon damage? Doubtfully i haven't checked for sure. Another problem.. instant cyclones... as a feral.. what? Sure it requires the use of their combo points.. but really? An instant cyclone? HOW?!?! Feral druids have a far superior stealth compared to rogues. How? You have to be RIGHT on top of them to see it, yet rogues can be seen through stealth about 10 yrds away! This should be addressed and soon, a druid should not have stronger stealth.. It's not second nature to them like it is with a rogue, we LIVE in the shadows. Druids, whatever form they are, do not LIVE in the shadows, they know how to use them, but they sure as hell don't make a living poping out of them and stealing stuff. (Blue has said this is not the case with stealth and that they are the same... Imagination then?) This is just a bit of a problem i see with Ferals. Any ideas on how a Rogue can even have an attempt at countering any of these? Problems pointed out by others: ~~Regarding bleeds, sub rogues best bleed is Garrote doing around 3.7k per tick, while ferals have a bleed for about 8k, while they can output a massive amount of damage. ~~~In Arena's if it gets to the point where it is 1v1 of a Feral/Rogue, the Feral will always win unless they are extremly bad. They have an insane amount of dodge, bear form gives Vengeance so they hit extremely hard even in Bear Form, and then if they need to get out, Instant Cyclone -> infected wounds on you already -> pillar hump -> reset. a GOOD feral can reset against any melee class whenever they choose to (assuming there is LoS). ~~Kidney Shots are almost always Dodged by a feral druid, when they don't they barksin during it, reduing damage. ~~fairie fire you so you CANNOT restealth unless you cloak which is almost dumb to do against a feral druid now since CR/CoS share CD. (reducing the only way rogues have of purely reducing physical damage intake) ~~The issue with stealth rogue vs feral.. imo, is that the feral form has a smaller hitbox to be seen. Its not that the stealth lvls are different, the feral hitbox just needs to be reworked. It feels like the feral hitbox is still located at the center of their normal form, putting their hit zone around the center of the kitty,,, aka why you need to be right in their face to spot their stealth. (Thanks Vyde, this would definitly explain why it feels like Druids have better stealth if this is the case) |

Given that they are exactly the same mechanically, this shouldn't be the case. This has been a particularly pervasive myth that I'd like to lay to rest. |

You're correct. Merely saying something isn't so, doesn't mean a thing. Knowing that they're the same ability used by different classes, and knowing that this exact issue has been tested, repeatedly, in response to claims otherwise, does.
Perhaps there are. I haven't experienced any unusual issues with Stealth personally, but that doesn't mean other rogues aren't seeing issues. If those issues are occurring, then they are a separate matter though, and unrelated to any supposed differences between rogue and druid Stealth.
This is correct, choosing the Feral spec and gaining Feral Instinct merely brings Feral spec Stealth into line with Rogue baseline stealth (whose talents have been rolled into the ability).
Seeing who stuns who in the STV arena or a duel isn't exactly an accurate method of testing stealth effectiveness. A number of factors can play into why one stealthed character gets the jump on the other ranging from latency, to reaction time, to movement speed, to attack range, to facing. |
