Swearing in Guilds

blizz -> wysłany:
We had this come in in guild chat today, someone said [Removed] man, healers are def needed' with the nearly immediate response of 'woah, tone it down I don't like swearing and my kids sometimes play in this guild.'

So, no offensive swearing (As in at someone ect.), it isn't against the guilds rules.

Now the rest of us are mature adults with work/college and understand that if our kids play the game swearing is part of it since it IS T rated to begin with.

The rest of us were like[Removed] not swearing, we enjoy being able to joke around and unwind after work/school and the fact that you let your kids play a T rated game shouldn't affect us, if you don't like it put your filter on.'

They responded 'I pay my $15 a month for my account and my kids account, I don't want swearing in the game I pay for.'

The response from us was 'Yeah, we pay our $15 a month too and you can't tell us what we can and cannot say if there isn't any rule against it.'

I was curious to see if others have similar stories and their views/actions in it, I also posted it for the pure absurdity of their statements.
blizz -> wysłany:

The game is 12+. If a kid is 12 or older and hasn't heard swearing before, he/she/it has lived an extremely sheltered life. I'm surprised he even has access to a computer then.

The kids I hear screaming at me on xbox live are certainly not 12 yet, and they use swearing that would make a sailor blush.

That is entirely irrelevant. A Teen rating isn't based on what a person of a certain age may be exposed to at school or in certain environments. It is a determination of what type of content a game may have and what someone, especially a parent, may expect if they purchase the game.

I took special offense to this post because I believe that words, especially curse words, should not carry any weight or be censored in any way.

You are welcome to your opinion, and in your house or business establishment you may determine what type of behavior you will allow. Our policies must reflect an acceptable balance and take everyone's views on the subject into consideration.

As for the subject of this thread. I believe Eilethalua's quote answers the question best. While all chat is subject to our Terms of Use, we generally take a more lenient stance on chat found in private channels and guilds as they are considered "at will".
