It's ok to ninja guild banks and leave guys

blizz -> wysłany:
So here's a little backstory:

Member ninjas almost all items of value (flasks, maelstroms, herbs, gems) from our guild bank. Leaves, removes all of us from realids and then leaves the guild. Here's our official response:

Thank you for your mail.

I understand the difficult situation that your guild has found itself in but am sorry to have to tell you that in this case the previous information that you were given by our Game Master team was correct.

The reason that we will not assist in this case is because items in a guild bank are shared by all members of a guild, and all members have a right to take items as permitted by the guild leader. I know that the items which were taken from your bank were very valuable, but we do not consider the number removed to be unreasonable given the player's time spent with the guild before leaving.

While I understand that you may disagree with this decision, ultimately it is the responsibility of the guild leader to restrict access to the bank if he or she feels it necessary to do so. Without this restriction in place we cannot police how members choose to add or remove items from a guild bank or take sides in a disagreement such as this.

Once again let me say that I am very sorry to give you this news but hope that it has helped you to understand why we cannot act in the manner that you requested.

Regards

So guys, here's the best way to make gold in this game:

1. Get a bunch of people to farm loads of mats for you, aka a guild.
2. Stay afk in the guild for a few months
3. Ninja the bank.
4. Profit.

Interesting discussion and I'm sorry to hear about this unpleasant episode Illana.

I’m not going to discuss your particular incident here Illana, as it is not the correct place. If you wish to leave your feedback on the way your Guild was treated, you are free to do so via the [email protected] email address. However, I would like to highlight a couple of particular points.

First of all, Blizzard is not condoning malicious Guild bank damage. However, we do think it is OK for a player to withdraw whatever they are permitted to withdraw from it. That’s kind of the point of the whole system which was deliberately implemented to help Guilds flexibly balance accessibility with security. We are not psychic and cannot adjudicate on ‘unwritten rules’ of individuals Guilds, nor can we assess levels of trust over a certain period of time. So, we have to base our judgements on the simple mechanics already put in-place by the developers.

Now, if the character in question is actually compromised at the time of the withdrawal, we will intervene for sure and do our very best to reclaim the losses. Impersonating Guild members to gain access to the bank is also a big no-no, and we will look to take action on anyone trying such a scam.

But, when it comes to normal players, operating under normal Guild Bank procedures, it’s extremely difficult to design a game mechanic (or even a fair service policy) that takes human behaviour into account. This is why we give Guild leaders the power to implement their own limits and restrictions. The more they value the contents of a tab, the more they should restrict access to them. If you have any ideas how the permissions system can be refined to help prevent incidents like your Illana, we would advise you post them constructively in our Raid and Guild Leadership forum here:
