PvP Harassment

blizz -> wysłany:
Here's the scenario:
There's two friends on a PvP realm, one is a Horde player, and the other is an Alliance player.
Is it considered harassment if the Alliance player uses /who to track my whereabouts, then tells his Horde friend who subsequently finds and kills me?
I always thought that was some sort of breach in the rulebook, but I've never had confirmation of whether it's allowed or not by another player or even a Game Master.
That scenario happens quite often to my buddy who faction changed from Horde and is now hunted by his old guild.
So, is that allowed?

You are welcome to report any type of harassment that falls under our policy. As for PvP, there is indeed a PvP solution to what you are describing.

Perhaps you can gather some friends and fight back, maybe your guild can help. I highly doubt that they would stick around just to die over and over, with other people there just to try to kill you specifically.

There is no harassment here.

Oh, I'm quite certain it's harassment.

It just seems to be tolerated on the PvP servers since, well, according to Zen...

there is indeed a PvP solution to what you are describing.

Would the same apply to full-on zone disruption just due to server type? Level 85 players totally shutting down a town by mass-slaughtering NPCs and having no resistance from the lowbies?

On a PvP server that is a regular thing, it is not considered zone disruption, when other players can kill each other and battle it out that is the pvp solution, usually one party will always get tired and leave.

Would you say this falls under such a definition if these players continued to hunt down the OP on a regular basis? It becomes more about going out of one's way in order to annoy the player in question rather than being a chance encounter in a contested zone.

Unfortunately, these are on case by case situations and the OP can report the issue to a game master at any time, they will investigate the matter, however, on a pvp server it is a bit difficult to see this as harassment.

    Harassment Overview
    http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20455

  • Ongoing Harassment Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used, but the intent. Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment, either physical or verbal, can lead to more severe action. The idea behind this is to prevent any one player from consistently being made uncomfortable in the lands of Azeroth.
blizz -> wysłany:

"Gather some friends to help." So now the harassment is affecting 2-4 players instead of just 1. In order for this one guy to quest/herb/survey/whatever in peace and enjoy the game, it takes 2-3 players doing nothing but flying around looking for gankers.

Is this really the kind of experience you want to promote?

Ganking should be considered harassment and should be a bannable offense, and the PvP ruleset should have disappeared forever back in Wrath.

No harassment wouldn't be affecting these other players as well. I am not promoting this kind of gaming experience as you state, this is just how a pvp server deals with things.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you.

Yes, on PvP realms death from the other faction is a fact of life and there are PvP solutions to the random "death from above" scenarios, but if that other faction is intentionally going out of their way to target a player repeatedly then I consider this to be harassment.

Seems pretty clear cut to me.

In fact ...

You are welcome to disagree with me, but unfortunately, PvP is not considered harassment on a PvP server.

The player can choose not to be on a PvP server if they wish, many players enjoy the constant battles, which is why they are on a PvP realm.

You are welcome to disagree with me, but unfortunately, PvP is not considered harassment on a PvP server.

We're not trying to suggest that a PvP encounter is harassment, Zen.

We're trying to show that this form of harassment happens to involve PvP.

Understood, what I am trying to explain that in this case, it wouldn't be considered harassment, but the player is welcome to report the situation to get looked into at any time.
