Flying so far has ruined the game. Either you have unlimited flight, or you have no flight.
Pros:
Easy to get over terrain
Cons:
Lack of immersion,
Lack of challenge,
Destruction of wpvp
So, what is to be done to fix it?
1. Flying needs to be available from the start.
2. Flying needs to have time limits. Flying for longer than 5 minutes ruins the need for flightmasters. Why not give flying a slow recharging endurance bar that takes twice as long to charge as it takes to use? 6 minutes to charge the bar, 3 minutes to burn it, and while you are not pressing the spacebar, you glide, burning the bar at 1/4 normal speed.
3. Flying must not be an escape from pvp. This means that players need tools to dismount enemy players in air, and bring both players to the ground safely.
4. Flying must not be an escape from content. That means mobs need methods to dismount players in air, even if that means giving players a parachute.
