Mage Portals are pretty useless now...

blizz -> wysłany:
With everyone having a Dalaran hearth, anyone can now instantaneously access anywhere they want almost immediately. Half the classes have class hall teleport spells that can take them to Dalaran regardless.

I miss the days when people actually cared about mage ports. Now anyone can go anywhere just as easily. Mages used to have a little perk that would allow us to flexibly bind our hearths to places we wanted, while most other classes would bind theirs to a city. Not anymore, now there's no real perk or identity.

Wouldn't be so upset if they were planning on removing the Dalaran hearth after Legion, but seeing how they didn't remove the garrison hearth from Draenor...

And yet, when there was only one portal available such as in Northrend Dalaran it was the end of the world. Can't win, eh? :P

OT: I think they are the opposite of useless, and my mage gets asked for ports a couple of times a day - but its mainly a convenience feature. Being able to jump your group quickly to the hub of every expansion makes it super easy to get around without extra loading screens, and the Stonard/Theramore portals have always been useful for getting to the middle of the opposite continent.

Somewhat misleading. Northrend Dalaran used to have a portal to all racial cities before the Cataclysm system patch removed all the portals because Blizzard didn't want players to keep their hearthstones set to Dalaran. It wasn't until players (rightly so) complained about not even having a portal to their faction capital that the portal was added in a hotfix.
Yeah, I remember - was just saying there was a huge outcry at time time from the greater community, whereas this is an outcry from a mage.

The OP is complaining that the convenience of a Dalaran Hearthstone, with portals available after using it, has reduced the need of mage portals. I was just making an observation that it seems some people (not necessarily the majority of this thread) want it both ways on this: ease of travel vs. immersion, etc.
