I was recently in a (LFG)-dungeon with my healer (priest). Barely 1 minute into the dungeon another player starts insulting... used the word @@#*!%!.
Now I do not see any reason why I should treat people in the internet any other way then I would in real life. It is cowardice to hide behind the anonymity that your screen provides. In real life (which is to say face to face), I would not accept anyone using any kind of foul language in my presence. I would not associate with these kind of people, much less play a game with them.
So in this case I decided I would react on the internet in the same way I would react if I was playing a board game face to face with a couple of other people and one of them used foul language or insults. I informed the group that I do not tolerate this kind of behavior and teleported out of the dungeon. As I was the healer, naturally they wiped.
I teleported back in, which is when naturally the arguments between those that agree with me and those that don't would commence. I informed the group that I am not interested in arguments, that i do not tolerate that kind of language and that that was the end of that. I would not make things easier by leaving the group and that they should either kick me or the one that made the insults.
The tank and the one that made the insult then left at once. The rest of us re-queued and got a group within a few seconds and had a trouble free and fun run.
I post this in the hope that others might do the same. There is no excuse for anti-social behavior and absolutely no reason to accept it. I do also hope that Blizzard increases it's efforts to tackle foul language and insults (specially racist, homophobic and sexist ones) in the game, as it does ruin the experience for many.
