Puddles in WoW - suggested by Voltuna of Moonglade.
Suggestion
As most of us have doubtless noticed, it rains a great deal in Azeroth, in fact it always seems to be raining somewhere.
Realism has always been a big hallmark of World of Warcraft, and yet for some reason, rain on the ground does not create puddles. This suggestion is an attempt to rectify this obvious oversight on the part of the devs.
Wouldn't it be cool if, whenever it rained, nice, big puddles were created on the ground, that players could splash around in?
Advantages of puddles:
- Those travelling upon motorcycles, or fast mounts could ride past and newbies loitering close to a puddle - quickly drive right through it, drenching the newbies, and getting them deliciously wet.
- Puddles could give players an excuse to equip older items and item sets as a means of preventing their feet getting wet.
- Draenei and Tauren players could have glistening hooves.
Disadvantages of puddles
- The implementation of puddles could potentially create potholes in the roads, resulting in the need for periodic repairs.
Types of Puddle
Obviously, in the interests of diversity, there is a need for several categories of puddle, I will list some examples here:
- Puddle1: Standard, shallow puddle, which creates a cool 'splashing' effect when run through, or stood in.
- Puddle2: Deeper puddle, that causes players to stumble and fall into a medium-sized hole, rather like Doctor Foster.
- Puddle3: (rare) Causes players to tumble down into a secret cave, inhabited by Moomin characters from Tove Janson's 'Tales from Moomin Valley.
- - Possible moomin characters for cave: Hattifatners, Snork Maiden, Snuffkin.
Well, there's my suggestion, and I hope that Blizzard can find the time to consider it, and that it will garner plenty of support on the forums.
