So Blizzard have updated the graphics somewhat with each release of World of Warcraft, but will we ever get a decent upgrade or overhaul of the graphics engine?
World of Warcraft has its own unique style which most people love but it definitely wouldn't get lost in a graphics upgrade, just look at the Cata and MOP intro videos! They're obviously far superior to the in-game graphics we experience each day but they still feel like WoW, just WoW to the extreme.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a WoW with a graphics engine and style somewhere in-between the two? More advanced than what we have now but not taking it as far as an extreme upgrade?
Something closer to FFXIV graphics, where the character models look more like the ones in the MOP intro etc? Who wouldn't want Orc and Human characters that looked more like that?
I've seen people beat down suggestion like this before but if Square Enix can screw up and re-build an entire game in a year and a half why is it such a ridiculous suggestion that Blizzard give WoWs graphics a complete overhaul?
After all they've been in the business a long time so I'm sure if SE can afford to completely rebuild a game Blizzard could afford to upgrade the graphics engine! I'm also pretty sure they could work out how to make the new engine scalable to still work on old systems, which is one of the good points of WoW for many players.
Love WoW, this isn't some hate or troll thread but really wish they would update the graphics.
After all I haven't invested my time and money into WoW all this time for Blizzard to leave its graphics in the dark while they work on Titan's, what if I don't like Titan? Maybe I just want better graphics from WoW!
Edited for typo
Dear Blizzard,
Lets have a Free Character Migration Week! ...and sort out problems such as the many mentioned across threads like the one linked below, once and for all. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2986509135 THE IDEA: - Merge some of the lower population realms together or simply schedule them to be closed down. - Set in place a SOLID server cap for each faction on every server (of your choosing) - Put in place a SOLID server ratio cap (of your choosing) THEN: - Offer EVERY character 1 FCM + 1 FREE faction change at the time of migration (for those who take up the FCM) - Offer EVERY guild the option of 1 free server transfer + 1 FREE faction change at the time of migration (for those who take up the FST) Blizzard then sets up a web page for this event, which opens one week before the FCMW. This web page would show players current sever population stats and migration trends, as well as a selection of Guild stats and Guild population stats. It would also give the whole WoW EU community one weeks notice and the chance to discuss who is doing what, and decide upon their chosen migration plan. This website is then used during FCMW by players to check live stats of those mentioned above. They log-in to their account through this site and pre-select/pre-order the FCM and FST for their guilds during this FCMW. Which is effectively a week of pre-arranging/pre-booking Character and Guild server migrations on a first-come first-served basis. Then at the end of the week, once everyone is booked in for their chosen migrations Blizzard closes down WoW for 24hours and processes all transfers! I'm not saying this process wouldn't be costly, i'm not saying it would be easy, I'm not saying it wouldn't cause some issues a long the way... but i definitely think it would solve a lot of issues. People stranded on some servers could re-unite with friends. Dud chars stranded on old servers could have new life breathed back into them. Old players with dud chars would be tempted to re-activate and resurrect their accounts, knowing they could make use of them again. Servers with too many players would be re-balanced, and so too would servers who have a problem with Horde to Alliance or Alliance to Horde ratios. There are many draws to the community to run a project such as this, and wouldn't it be awesome to have this all completed in-time for a united community to enjoy Mists of Pandaria? |
