As I was reading the thread about ungrateful players, I noticed something quite sad: many posts of people stating they'd stopped helping others, based on a few unfortunate encounters with some of the.. less nice people in the community.
Might be good to remind yourselves of all the times people genuinely appreciated the help :)
Few examples from my own experience:
- Back in TBC, I put some leg armor on the legs of a level 19 twink (back when the level restriction only counted for whoever put it on, not for the wearer) and he still greets me warmly and chats for a while every time we happen to run in to each other.
- In WotLK, I came across a fire mage with 71 talent points in the fire tree, which made me curious. So I asked how the mage came to decide on that spec, and she explained to me she was very new at the game, and her boyfriend had advised her to "go fire". I helped her with the talents, pointed her to some informational sites and advised her to /slap her boyfriend.. Next day she whispered me to thank me and tell me how much her dps had improved.
- To thank me for donating Primordial Saronites to a friend who was on the quest to get the legendary in WotLK, he gave me Sylvana's Music Box. <3
Many, many more people are like them. Don't give up on everyone, because of a few!
