I recently got back into WoW and decided i wanted to level a monk, I have already done all the horde zones multiple times so i made an Undead to change thing up by doing the Eastern Kingdoms zones. The first 30 or so levels we're fine but then the alliance came, and i died more time between 30-58 than I've ever died before, now normally I'd be okay with this, its a part of the game, but i got really frustrated when I saw none of these player were from my actual server, instead they would just randomly appear out of nowhere and kill me. I thought it might be better when i got to Outland, but i couldn't even manage a single quest without being ganked atleast 5 times.
Now here's when it gets stupid, because one thing is world PvP is fine, but another is when:
The players aren't from your server, and will randomly appear and disappear.
The players who spawn in are level 90? This doesnt make any sense to me, what would a lvl 50 gain from having a 90 of the opposing faction spawn in and kill him when hes trying to level?
Blizzard has done so much to make it easier and more enjoyable to level, and then they do this. The only other alternative is to keep grinding the same zones you've already done like 10 times, or do dungeons, but considering theres only around 2 dungeons per level, it gets boring and repetitive.
I can definitely see the use for some of the cross-realm features like inviting people from other realms, or being able to ''switch realms'' by being in a group with another person, but having random people spawn in and kill you is not beneficial to anyone, and will ruin your experience.
