Today I was on Tol Barad doing the daily quest “Thinning the Brood” were you have to kill 12 Darkwood Lurkers there was another player doing it at the same time as me, which as a skinner I usually like as it often means I get to skin the other persons dead spiders too, but today the person wasn’t looting the junk from the spiders, not to prevent me from skinning them, just simply because they didn’t think the junk loot was worth the trouble. This I have to say really amazes me, I was always bought up with maxims such as “waste not, want not” and “look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves.” It amazes me too that you can even get addons that will throw the junk away automatically for you. Today from the spiders that I killed personally I got the following junk items:-
9 X Rigid Spinneret @ 21s21c each = 1g90s89c
3 X Slimy Fangs @ 41s31c each = 1g23s93c
1 X Scavenged Animal Parts @ 17s44c = 17s44c
This gives a total of 3g32s26c just from the junk from doing one daily. That works out at more than 93 gold over a 4 week month from this one quest alone that they just throw away.
A couple of weeks back I did a little test to see just how much gold I acquired just from junk items in a normal day. What I did was instead of vendoring the items as I normally did, I sent the junk items to one of my alts and at the end of the day I got my alt to vendor them and see how much it came to, and I have to say that the amount even surprised me at just over 71 gold. That’s about 2K in gold per month just from junk items that some people just throw away. I have to wonder if they realize just how much gold they are throwing away and if they did would they still do it?
