Is Blizzard really going to continue with LFR

blizz -> wysłany:
Ya, another LFR thread, but I'm saying this as a person who uses LFR as his main source of gear - i.e. I don't raid normal/heroic.

My main objection to LFR is that it's an easier version of content designed for a fixed raid group.

In a fixed raid group, everyone learns together and progresses together.

In a random match-made group, every time you run it you end up with players of disparate knowledge of the fights. This makes it incredibly frustrating when things don't go well, as the content requires everyone to be on the same page, tempers flare and the atmosphere turns toxic.

Now I totally understand why Blizzard created LFR. They could not justify the resources used in creating art assets for raids when only 5% of the players ever see it.

I like to offer a suggestion,

Why don't you create art assets that can be used for both raiding and as an open world area for non-raid content?

I mean we have Isles of Thunder and the Thunder King raid ... 2 separate areas ... why not have it as one?

  • Have the area start out as a raid.
  • When the raid is obsolete, a new tier has come out, de-instance it for use as a non-raid content area (i.e. like Isles of Thunder, Timeless Isles).
  • The de-instanced version could show the effects of the successful raid on the area - e.g. after the defeat of the Thunder King and his men, the 2 factions will be shift through the palace for useful artifacts/whatever; a perfect scenario for a content hub.

There. Everyone will experience the art assets created regardless whether they are a raider or not. Non-raiders don't have to endure content not designed for them.

Clarification:

I'm saying have the raid environments be dual purpose. It can be used as a raid first, then after it's obsolete, have it be used as a Timeless Isles type area - where we can kill rares, do puzzles, quest and find treasure.

There are many benefits, the raid dungeons can be larger - instead of just the TK palace, the whole of the IoT can be the raid. Non-raider get a bigger playground too as instead of just being limited to the outdoor part of the IoT, they have accessed to the palace proper.

I'm not "threatened" by LFR. I have done it (exclusively; apart for Flex 1 once in a while) more than I care to, every single one of them. I just don't find it fun anymore with the fairly toxic atmosphere. I do it just for gear now because it's the only place to get a weapon that isn't complete rubbish.

I understand what your saying, but your suggestion has nothing to do with LFR.

Im confused why that was what you started with.

I agree with this.

Also, there will be new ways to approach raiding in Warlords that sort of fall between LFR and organized guild raids. People should feel that they have much better opportunities to experience the content in ways optimal for them, whether that's LFR, progression guild raids, or raids using the Premade Groups tool, in addition to taking advantage of the extra flexible raid options or Normal and Heroic difficulty.
