Just a little back story here...I'm 33 and just went back to school for computer programming. Literally 3 weeks ago. For your GM's, community managers, help desk people, Devs, what kind of computer education and background is favored. I'm sure most game companies look for relatively similar skill sets and I'm wondering specifically what those are.

I'm sure most game companies look for relatively similar skill sets and I'm wondering specifically what those are. It often depends on the company, the infrastructure of the game being worked on (and potential future ones), and discipline you want to get into within a game company (specific job type). I'd suggest checking out our job listings (which sometimes will tell you more) and also check out some of the industry related sites out there like Gamasutra or the IGDA. They often have different viewpoints from various game industry folks. |
