changes to archeology

blizz -> wysłany:
I like the concept of archeology. Its a neat and different way to get into the lore and keep people out in the world. The implementation just fell a little flat. A few months ago you guys bumped up the number of pieces received from each dig. That helped, but it missed the mark by a bit with regards to what the problem with arch. is.

The big problem is travel. I don't care so much if I get 12 or 20 pieces from a dig site. What I care about is that each continent has 4 dig sites at a time and there is horribly long travel time between each. The distances you have to travel is what discourages me from doing more archeology. The fact that I can get lucky and have 2 or 3 sites pop in STV but the next one that pops is in WPL and there are no sites in between is what keeps me from sitting down and saying "I think i'll pursue more archeology today."

I have 3 possible solutions to help with this problem:

1. Simply increase the number of sites per continent to 6. More sites=more stopping points. May not always work out to keep them clustered or let me work in one area but will improve the issue

2. When sites pop allow us to go to Harrison Jones and say, "I REALLY have an interest in Night Elf relics. What can tell me about where to find them?" You then pay jones (may 25G or 100G or 5G? that is debatable) and he changes one of your non-night elf sites to a night elf site. Possibly cap the number of times per day this can be done to stop people from straight up farming the one they want. But this quality to the work. Instead of going from trolls in STV to fossils in EPL hoping one of them pops as nightelf and being disappointed when you get dwarves, you make the long journey knowing you'll get something you are after

3. Revamp the system. Each time you enter a zone it check to see if a dig site has sprung up. Set a cooldown on it. You just entered Feralas, it checks and sees none. You can't just keep going back and forth, back and forth until it triggers one. It won't check again for say 30 mins or 1 hour. But as you pass thru feralas and get to thousand needles, well now that you enter thousand needles it now checks that zone and bingo - you have a zone. This method makes it worthwhile to go explore and move thru zones. There's not a cap of 4 dig sites.

What a vulgar term that 4 letter s word is...

I vote we get a slot/bag just for our Arch toys.

If you could stop time for a bit for me, I could get it to you "sooner". ;)

Well stop giving us updates on the state of the information and get the information :P

Am I the only one who got a mental picture of Neth as an evil mastermind when I read this?

I think Neth has always been the evil mastermind. Zarhym was merely a distraction :P

He is just a talking head you know... ;)
