Character copies are of year old versions

I'm sure this will all shake out, but in case others are also seeing this: when I logged onto the PTR server Anasterian (sp?), there were already copies there of my two main toons. When I logged onto them, they appear to be about a year, perhaps more, out of date, judging by the Firelands gear my mage is in, and the fact that her race change (from troll to BELF which I did early in Firelands, can't remember when exactly) hasn't happened yet, and she's there in all her red haired troll glory! I don't know what could have caused this, but thought I would report it.
