New PTR notes.

blizz -> wysłany:
PTR got a big-ish push today, but there's no new notes. There's data mined stuff that's confusing the heck out of everyone so I'm just wondering if there will be an official update soonish for the PTR notes. :)

Thank you~!
blizz -> wysłany:
The updated notes provided on Tuesday coincide with today's PTR patch. The push of the new build was delayed a bit, so the notes came out a few days ahead of time.

Many of the data-mined notes are extremely inaccurate, as a lot of them have to do with tooltip changes or corrections -- they're not actually spell/ability changes. It's no surprise it's causing confusion, but again, when lines of code are gleaned from a build via data-mining, that information will ultimately not be very useful to the majority of players. Even the best parsing of that data won't provide accurate information often enough. If you want to read all the data someone is parsing from a build of the game, that's fine. Just know that, in a lot of cases, you'll end up confused or misinformed.

If Data-mined Info is, indeed, incorrect then why is the Information supplied by Mmo-Champion 99% accurate?

They have Data-mined Information, but it's not confusing or misinforming at all. Just a thought for ya to ponder ; )

It depends on the type of data. Major content features, mounts, new items, etc. are relatively easy to discover with MMO-C's methodology. It's mostly spells and abilities that can be tricky. These new strings in code are being discovered and reported with every build (and a lot of background changes go into each build). But without context they're often very misleading, as is the case with a lot of the weird changes shown today.

It's difficult for us to fully combat this, as those types of changes won't typically show up in patch notes anyway. They're either changes we'd consider more in the background and not very important to players, or bug fixes which may end up in the final retail version of the notes if we feel like that information is particularly helpful.

Boubouille has said himself in the past that data-mining isn't an exact science. Hopefully that's just made extremely clear whenever he's pulling information from a patch build to which the general public has no real access for reference yet. If it's not posted in blue text and cited as coming from Blizzard Entertainment on his site, you have to take it for what it is -- the closest way for one to extract all code changes from us and try to make sense of it for others, without our official stamp of confirmation.
