Very disappointed that Zandalar are evil

I always loved the Zandalar, I thought it was awesome that the Trolls had this mysterious, scholarly, and wise group amongst them that always spoke for reason amidst the chaos in the world. Now that's completely ruined, and we're fighting the Zandalar and some guy named "Zul".

I guess my Hero of the Zandalar achievement doesn't mean very much.

Take a look at real-world international history sometime. It's not unheard of for former allies to become rivals or even enemies. It happens. It's politics.

edit: Warcraft history also reflects this. How many times have the various races fought allied together against common enemies, only to later become enemes themselves?



I bolded the part that sticks out as a reason NOT to turn the Zandalari into enemies. It's been done to death. And just because it happens in the real world, that doesn't necessitate it in WoW. The Zandalari were just convenient for new bad guys. The behavior of the Zandalari has never been that to "go to war" with anyone. They were always peaceful, knowledge seekers. This is completely contradictory to their lore. It was just convenient, that's all.


That seems like a stretch to raise a concern. It seems like you're conceding that this type of political strife happens all the time in real life, but because we're talking about fantasy fiction, you're afforded an opportunity to suspect us of writing a convenient story advancement for trolls.

Sure, you worked with the Zandalari in the past. To say that they were true allies of the Horde and Alliance though is to not understand their history very much. Couple the fact that they believe in their racial superiority with the collapsing of nearly every known troll civilization, then add an earth-shattering event driving all political forces into a panicked state, and... you have completely unpredictable outcomes. So whether or not you're happy that your leadership is now openly at odds with the Zandalari, I don't think you can adequately call "foul" on the story. Troll history runs so deep and is so complicated that you can't just say, "yea, but I don't think the Zandalari would do that."
