Harassment help

blizz -> wysłany:
Hey guys. I had a quick question. This person in-game just whispered me claiming to know information from my Facebook (yeah, I know, Facebook is stupid blah blah). I didn't believe them, of course, until they started reading off personal information from said profile, then told me they were on my friend's list. I opened a ticket hoping to maybe get some help concerning it, after ignoring them of course. I was just wondering...is there any way that Blizzard could tell me even like their first name? Like, would they ever do that? Because I wanted to figure out who it is and obviously never speak to them again. Lol. As you can probably imagine this incident has me a bit shaken, so if I did or said anything stupid I apologize. I just want to get this resolved and I wondered your thoughts on it. Thanks everyone.

If you feel threatened by this person, Bladian, in addition to reporting them to our Game Masters, you should also report them to your local authorities. While we are happy to assist the authorities with information regarding any investigations, our customer service representatives should not be considered a substitute for your local law enforcement.

That said, while we would not be able to provide you directly with information regarding another player, we will cooperate with any inquiries from law enforcement that may require information for their investigation.

In the mean time, you are doing exactly what we ask you should do in any harassment situation: place the individual on ignore, and report the situation to us. If they contact you again, please continue to utilize our ignore function and report additional instances of harassment to us - while we are unable to provide you information regarding another player's account, all instances of harassment will be addressed accordingly.

Cool. Good show. Also be sure to go through your privacy settings and ensure no one can view pics/info/status updates that are not friended....I have noticed that is another big issue.

On a semi-related note, also keep in mind that friends of friends in Real ID can see your Real ID name - this is, however, an option you can turn off in your security preferences in Account Management.

Battle.net Account Management

Log in to Account Management, and go to Settings > Communication Preferences. The second box down includes options regarding Real ID and how your information is displayed to those you have added.
