Personally, I care about matching gear while I'm playing this game because I would like to play with my character looking fresh, and not wearing mismatch gear. When I bought the Burning Crusade I was disappointed how the quest rewards for gear didn't flow as what I thought it would.

I care up to a certain point. While questing, I might pass on an upgrade if it doesn't flow with the rest of my set, or at least save it until I collect more gear that matches it. Either way, I know that stuff will be replaced as I quest. From 80-85 it was particularly easy since each new set tends to upgrade nicely from the set before it.
Once I get in dungeons I'm purely focused on my stat priorities. |
