As some of you may have noticed the background downloader for patch 6.0.2 began today. After discovering issues with the size of the download, however, we have deactivated it for the time being. We'll let you know once when we're ready to start the 6.0.2 background downloader again, as well as provide you with some additional details on how it works and what you can expect when downloading the 6.0.2 patch in advance of its release on live realms.

Mine's still going, just like the energizer bunny.

We're in the process of stopping it, so that might be why it's still running for some people.
blizz -> wysłany:
If you've already started the background downloader and it's still running, you should fully shut down the Battle.net Desktop App and restart it. This should terminate the download.

You put it up without checking the file size?

It's a little more complicated than that. :p

It's likely that the manifest lost the encoding specifiers somewhere along the way, or the coding is downloading locales incorrectly. But that's neither here nor there. We're looking into the issue to get it fixed as soon as possible.

So when is it coming out? The 7th of October?

Zarhym! Give us a date? Is 6.0.2 tomorrow or next week???

We don't have a patch release date to announce at this time.

For those who had already downloaded the pre-patch, will that pre-patch information conflict with the upcoming pre-patch files?

No, it shouldn't.

I'm...not sure if this is all made up jargon or real.

It's real, but also to emphasize my point that it's a bit more complicated than checking a file size. ;)

And what's the opinion on cleaning out data that has already been downloaded, as per Omegal's recommendation in the post just above yours?

Our software engineers don't recommend players try to do this. The reason we've stopped the downloader relates to a matter of efficiency of the migration process. There isn't really any point in undoing what has been done if you've already downloaded data, as it's data you'll eventually need whether you got it today, or will get it when the downloader is reactivated.

So you say, skull-man. So you say.

You could have dropped any sort of gobbledygook in there and would've made as much sense. Flux capacitors and whirleygigs and don't forget the samophlange.

Such things go without saying. :)

Um.. Hate to bring this up, but it does kinda matter when you have Live installed on a small SSD.. ;)

Personally would rather go through the file conversion and have it wipe the old files as it goes along so that I don't run out of space on the drive..

We'd like to get a clean-up system in place. I'm just saying that we avoid recommending players tamper with their data files unless it's absolutely necessary to fix a technical problem preventing one from running or installing the game.
